The Bridgwater Sea Cadets go with the flow

We were delighted to support Bridgwater Sea Cadets with a grant from the Cooper Associates Foundation.

Christine Fuller, Chair of Trustees at Bridgwater Sea Cadets, explained why they applied for the grant and how the kayak we are funding will make a positive difference.

“Our location in Bridgwater is in an area which is 10% socially deprived. The skills and experiences we offer make a real difference to a number of young lives we work with, as we help develop young people’s capabilities.

The kayak is a hugely valuable asset for us. At the moment we are fundraising for toilets and a new kitchen, which are ‘sensible’ priorities. However, our current kayaks are old and outdated and in urgent need of being replaced.

Our Sea Cadets follow an extensive programme and racing kayaks is a key part of that programme. This activity has numerous positive outcomes and the young people greatly enjoy it. Over 80 young people will use, learn and enjoy using these kayaks.

We are very thankful for the generosity of the staff at Cooper Associates for enriching the experience we can offer our Sea Cadets.”
